What Evalify Does

Evalify automates the mechanical, time-intensive parts of an FTO / clearance analysis so you can spend your judgment where it counts. It does not replace your analysis — it produces the searched, charted, legal-status-assessed groundwork that a thorough clearance requires, in a fraction of the time.

The analysis, mapped to FTO practice

Stage of a clearance analysisWhat Evalify delivers
Define the subject matterDecomposes the invention/product into distinct technical aspects, each expressed in claim-style language, so the analysis is anchored to concrete features rather than a vague product description.
SearchRuns a semantic + classification-based search across a comprehensive, licensed global patent corpus and surfaces a focused set of potentially relevant references — not an unfiltered result dump.
Screen for relevanceFilters and ranks candidates by relevance to each aspect, so attention goes to the references that actually read on the subject matter.
Retrieve & construct claimsPulls the independent claims of the relevant references as the basis for charting.
Claim chartingProduces a limitation-by-limitation claim chart for each aspect against the relevant claims — the all-elements analysis at the heart of an infringement read.
Legal status & termAssesses each reference's current legal status (in-force, lapsed, expired, abandoned, pending) and estimated term, so risk is weighted by enforceability, not just relevance.
Assess & scoreProduces a risk assessment and an FTO score across the subject matter, plus a written FTO assessment.
Courses of actionGenerates concrete mitigation options per blocking reference — design-around, licensing, validity challenge, and others.

Beyond a manual first pass

As standard, every analysis also includes elements a time-boxed manual search often can't reach:

  • Non-patent literature (NPL) as prior-art / invalidity evidence against the strongest blockers.
  • Legal-status-weighted risk that distinguishes enforceable patents from expired or abandoned ones, and treats pending applications as their own future-risk category.
  • Assignee signals, including patent owners with a notable enforcement history.
  • Adjacent-market analysis — where the same subject matter would encounter more freedom.
  • An interactive assistant grounded in the specific analysis, for interrogating any result.

Tiers and Counsel Grade

Evalify offers tiers of analysis depth and territorial scope so you can match the analysis to the matter. Counsel Grade is the professional-depth tier — the fullest search, charting, and analysis — intended for clearance work where the output needs to hold up. Lighter tiers suit early triage or budget-constrained screens. See Running an Analysis.

What it is not

Evalify's output is an analytical work-product, not an opinion of counsel, and does not itself constitute legal advice. It is designed to accelerate and broaden your own analysis and to give you a defensible, evidence-linked basis for it — not to substitute for professional judgment. See the FAQs.
